Belief in evolution

Becky at Farm School pointed out this article about the status of evolution in Canada. Pretty much the same as elsewhere, it seems. Personally, I think some of this might start to make sense if you look at human thought patterns as something evolved. It may well have been adaptive to a) believe what your friends believe, b) not distinguish between resources you constructed and evidence you observed, c) favour rapid and absolute certainty as a mental state, d) dismiss your ignorance, and so on. Just a thought... and not a very optimistic one, perhaps
